I’m right handed, can I learn to play on a left handed acoustic?

I am going to start learning the acoustic guitar, a friend of mine has a left handed one that she says I can borrow.
Will it be harder for me to learn on a left handed guitar?
I heard that stringing it upside down can cause damage?
That’s what I was told. But who knows. Apparently it can make it sound out of tune aswell.

Play it which ever way you feel comfortable. I’d recommend getting your own though anyway.
If you think about it, it’s probably more logical to make all the shapes with the hand you use the most anyway.
